Attorney Miguel Elys has an extensive educational and professional background in Immigration, Business, and Criminal Law. He attended the University of South Florida’s Business School and earned his law degree from Universidad Central de Venezuela. In 2022, he obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa College of Law.
While studying law in Venezuela, he was actively involved in academic research with the Caracas Bar Association and dedicated himself to providing legal assistance to underserved communities. His litigation practice in Venezuela encompassed Corporate, Criminal, Administrative, and Family Law. As part of his corporate representation, he advised well-established companies, served as a board member, and was appointed to special external litigation committees.
During his time at the University of Iowa, he served as Treasurer of the Environmental Law Society. After earning his Juris Doctor and passing the Florida Bar Exam, he was admitted to practice law in Florida and later became a State Prosecutor in Orange County, Orlando. His experience as a prosecutor gave him invaluable litigation skills and strategic legal insight, which he now applies to the field of immigration law.
As a Latin American attorney, he is highly aware of the region’s legal and social realities and has a deep understanding of the challenges immigrants face. His unique experience as both a former U.S. prosecutor and a licensed attorney in Venezuela equips him with exceptional legal expertise to help his clients navigate the complexities of immigration law successfully.
